overview
November, 2025: The ZDHC MMCF Programme addresses the MMCF industry to improve the quality of discharged industrial wastewater, sludge handling and disposal, manage air emissions from production processes and to shift towards a circular production model by setting recovery rate targets for key chemicals.
The ZDHC MMCF Guidelines V3.0 and the Industry Standard Implementation Approach V3.0 have been developed as the latest version of the MMCF Guidelines, to be implemented from the calendar year 2026 onwards and reported on starting in 2027. These were updated and designed to provide an integral framework and roadmap for the MMCF industry, aligned with other ZDHC programmes, to improve their sustainable chemical management across input, process and output focus areas.
Some of the main updates include a new structure, the inclusion of requirements for input feedstock (involving the ZDHC Dissolved Pulp Guidelines V1.0), sludge disposal and testing, and a revision of S air emission and sodium sulphate recovery limits.
Lastly, while the MMCF Programme is centred around MMCF production, it addresses and requires the engagement of all the stakeholders throughout the MMCF supply chain to support its implementation, diffusion and impact.
