The Recycled Polyester Guidelines V1.0 establish a framework for sustainable chemical management in recycled polyester production, covering both bottle-to-textile and textile-to-textile recycling processes. These guidelines outline key chemical requirements for manufacturers, addressing (mechanical and chemical) production processes, chemical recovery and reuse, safe storage and handling, worker safety, and the environmental impact of wastewater, air emissions and sludge. Additionally, ZDHC has developed an implementation approach document to define the necessary steps and actions for guideline adoption, ensuring collaboration among stakeholders for successful industry-wide implementation. This webinar provides insights into the guidelines’ development and collaboration with Textile Exchange, a chapter-by-chapter breakdown of their structure and content, and a detailed explanation of the industry-standard implementation approach, including the improvement roadmap for the coming years.
