This Chemical Management for Textile and Leather Assemblers course on chemical management has been designed for textile and leather assemblers based on the digitized Suppliers Roadmap to Zero. This advanced level course will help you understand, implement and strengthen chemical management systems at your facility.

It is suitable for supplier facilities that have assembling or cut-make-trim operations but do not have chemical-intensive processes at their manufacturing facilities. These include the following:

  • Textile apparel assemblers (CMT)
  • Textile accessories and trims assemblers
  • Home furnishing assemblers
  • Leather apparel assemblers (CMT)
  • Leather accessories and trims assemblers

Prerequisite

Learners should have any one of the following to sign up for this course:

  • Chemical Management Fundamentals course certificate
  • Chemical Management Fundamentals Exam only certificate
  • Valid certificate of any one of the following courses:
    • CMS TIG Training
    • CMS TIG Refresher Training
    • Top 10 Best practices

If you do not have either of the above, you will not be accepted into the training course. Please upload the relevant certificate at the sign up stage.


target audience

Supplier Profile: Textile and Leather Assemblers

Supplier facilities that have assembling or cut-make-trim operations but do not have chemical-intensive processes at their manufacturing facilities.

Textile Accessories and Trims Assembler

  • Manufacture/Assembling (not processing) of textile materials that are attached to the body of the garments for functional purpose. Example: zips, buttons made of fabric, lining, interlining, lace, braids, labels, elastics, hangtag made of fabric.

  • Accessories or trims assembler of metal parts (pins, clips, tag pins, metals used in zippers, rivets, iron seals) or paper and plastic parts (tissue paper, paper band, plastic hangers, polybags, gum tape, backboard, neck board, inner carton, hanger) are excluded from the scope.

Textile Apparel Assembler (CMT)

  • Manufacture of apparel in terms of Cut, Make, and Trim (CMT) or stitching using purchased finished textile materials (such as fabrics, threads, and accessories/trims) as per garment design requirements

Home furnishing Assemblers

  • Assembling and manufacturing home furnishing articles such as curtains, upholstery, cushions, bed linens, rugs, and other home decor items by purchasing finished textile materials and accessories as per design requirements

Leather Accessories and Trims Assembler

  • Manufacture/Assembling (not processing) of leather materials that are attached to the body of the garments for functional purpose. Example: zipper pullers, straps, buttons made of leather, lining, fringes, tassels, braids, lace, tags

  • Accessories or trims assembler of metal parts (pins, clips, tag pins, metals used in zippers, rivets, iron seals) or paper and plastic parts (tissue paper, paper band, plastic hangers, polybags, gum tape, backboard, neck board, inner carton, hanger) are excluded from the scope.

Leather Apparel Assembler (CMT)

  • Manufacture of leather apparel and leather goods such as bags, belts, wallets, etc. in terms of Cut, Make, and Trim (CMT) or stitching using purchased finished leather materials

By the end of this course, learners will be able to:

  • Understand the importance and scope of input material management and maintain a Material Inventory List (MIL)

  • Establish and demonstrate input material traceability, and handle RSL non-conformities

  • Define and implement a Chemical Management Strategy (CMS)

  • Engage effectively with upstream suppliers, for ZDHC Supplier Roadmap to Zero requirements.

  • Maintain CMS-related documentation and SOPs

  • Apply continuous improvement practices

  • Identify and manage chemical-related waste

  • Gain a basic understanding of air emissions (GHG Scope 1 and 2)

  • Identify appropriate waste disposal methods
