GIZ logo

GIZ is a global service provider in the field of international cooperation for sustainable development and international education work. With over 50 years of experience, GIZ works across diverse areas, including economic development and employment, energy and the environment, and peace and security. The GIZ project FABRIC Asia (Promoting Sustainability in the Textile and Garment Industry in Asia) operates on behalf of the German Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ). FABRIC Asia works with partners to support the textile and garment industry in the Asia region in its transformation towards fair production for people and the environment.

In 2021, GIZ, the Fashion Charter for Climate Action, and 12 brands and manufacturers jointly developed the online Climate Action Training (CAT) to support manufacturers in their decarbonisation journey. CAT equips manufacturers with the knowledge and skills to understand the impacts of climate change on their operations, account for their greenhouse gas emissions, and find solutions to mitigate emissions. Proven effective, with over 15,000 users enrolled by the end of 2023, CAT offers a self-paced or tutor-guided training program for manufacturers.

To further increase outreach and scale, GIZ and ZDHC initiated a strong collaboration in mid-2023, starting with training over 20 ZDHC Approved Trainers to become CAT trainers. Now, the training is available through the ZDHC trainer network and the ZDHC Academy.
