The Chemical Management Fundamentals course is a foundational course, suitable for learners at all levels, including those new to chemical management. It introduces key concepts and practical tools in a simple and structured manner, making it a common starting point for anyone involved in chemical management across the supply chain.

It is the ideal starting point for understanding the basics of chemical management and serves as a prerequisite for the advanced courses.

The course guides learners through the digitised ZDHC Supplier Roadmap to Zero (RtZ), explains the management of restricted substances via MRSL and RSL, and builds foundational understanding of GHS and SDS.

(For Suppliers, this is a beginner-level course and should be completed by learners before progressing to the relevant ‘Chemical Management System’ course in the ZDHC Academy)

learning outcome

After the training, learners should be able to:

  • Understand the structure and user journey of the digitised ZDHC Supplier RtZ, including Focus Areas and their requirements.

  • Distinguish clearly between MRSL and RSL, including applicability, limits, responsibilities, and implementation

  • Identify restricted and hazardous substances, their risks, and the importance of substitution and clean inputs for clean outputs.

  • Gain working knowledge of GHS and SDS, including hazard classification and interpretation of key SDS sections for safe chemical management.
